Here’s a simple and delicious pizza recipe you can try at home:

Homemade Pizza Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F or 45°C)
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt

For the Sauce:

  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Various toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, olives, etc.)

Instructions:

1. Make the Dough:

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of flour and the salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour, a little at a time.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

2. Prepare the Sauce:

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, basil, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.

3. Assemble the Pizza:

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat.
  2. Punch down the risen dough and divide it in half (if making two pizzas). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  3. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Spread a generous amount of sauce over the dough.
  5. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  6. Add your favorite toppings.

4. Bake the Pizza:

  1. If using a pizza stone, carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated stone. If using a baking sheet, place it in the oven.
  2. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  3. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
